When I created the Lego party I assumed I'd be doing a post on decor ideas as part of the features (I'm sure I'm not the only blogger who mentally plans posts as they go about their daily lives). But that didn't quite work out. Firstly, the decor opportunities for Ryan's birthday are limited because of its proximity to Christmas. I try to keep the majority of Christmas decorations in our lounge/diner to keep the playroom free for birthday decor, but inevitability by that time of the month the snowflakes and handmade Christmas paraphernalia has overtaken the space. On top of this, the day of the party was extremely overcast so the pictures I took of the few decorations I had put up came out too dark and grainy to use.
But I did still want to write one final post to round up the feature, in case people have missed anything and want to create their own Lego party.
In week one I wrote about the food and drink I served. This was so much fun to organise! There was lots of food wrapped to look like colourful Legos, Lego sandwiches, a cake with chocolate bricks on top... you can read all about it here.
In the next post I shared how I made the party bags and what Lego favors I included. My favorites were the adorable Lego minifigure crayons:
All you need to create your own is a Lego minifigure mold (available from the Lego shop) and a bunch of wax crayons - check out my Lego crayon tutorial for full instructions.
Last week as all about the Lego party games, which included Lego Bingo and "pin the face on the Lego head". Throwing a kid's party at home can sometimes be a little stressful but I really enjoyed this one and loved every minute!
I even shared some of the Lego party game printables I used so you could use them for your own parties (or just enjoy some Lego themed fun with your children!)
This Thursday I'll be uploading a couple more printables to help with organising your own Lego fun, including the template for these Lego head straws.
And last of all I just wanted to share the Lego wrapping idea again. I'm a bit nerdy and like to co-ordinate present wrapping with the party theme when I do my kids' presents, so this year Ryan's pressies were wrapped to look like Lego bricks!
I'm a bit sad that this feature is over because writing about the party has brought back lots of happy memories of the day. But in 5 more months we will be throwing an eighth birthday party and I am having lots of fun with planning an arty theme!
